Craig Anderson

Role: Owner/Manager

Born: Paramatta

History: Began working with father on farm and then eventually moved on to working with stallions at Segenhoe and under the well respected Lionel Israel.  Managed various studs including Bhima, and established Bellerive as an agistment farm.  Leased Broadwater before gaining an opportunity with long-time client and friends (Gavin & Cath) to band together and purchase Amarina.

Favourite horse on Amarina:  Kosi Bay

Interest's outside of work: Watching sport and racing, lucky enough to have a hobby for a job.

Favourite time of year: Yearling Sales

Most satisfying part of job: Seeing a horse Amarina produced accomplish good deeds on the race track.

     
     
 

Gavin Murphy & Cath Donovan

Role: Owners

Born: Gavin - Rockhampton, Cath - Sydney

History: Growing up in central Queensland Gavin's dream in life was to be a trainer and own a farm in the Hunter Valley.  His passion for horses developed whilst a keen Show Jumper and Event Rider in his youth.  After studying Economics and Law in Brisbane Gavin moved to Sydney for work, where he met Cath.  Cath grew up around Port MacQuarie and Sydney developing a fondness for horses when riding in her spare time.  She studied Law in Sydney and remained in the city for work once graduated.  Gavin and Cath moved to New York in 1992, and purchased their first broodmare, Devine Blade, in 1994 and haven't looked back since.  They met Craig and Sue around 1998 when clients of Bellerive, which Craig was managing at the time.

Favourite Horse: Aqua D'Amore

Interests Outside of Work: Gavin- horses, Cath- cooking, travel, photography

Favourite Time of Year: Experiencing the warmth of Australia knowing it is snowing in New York.

Most Satisfying Part of Job: Being able to combine their life in America with the successful running of the farm.

Pam Parry

Role: Stud operations

Born: Surrey- England

History: Went to Ag college after school and then worked at Lindsay Park for 2 years.  Arrived in Scone and worked at Turangga before moving to Bellerieve where the 15 year (and counting) working relationship began with Craig.  Also worked at Broadwater before Amarina was established.  Has taught horse health, genetics, and foal care at TAFE.

Favourite Horse: Dynaformer x West of Katrina '08

Interests outside of work: Family and friends

Favourite time of year: When the last foal arrives!

Ken Best

Role: Assistant Manager

Born: Wangaratta

History: First started in the industry when working for Rangal Park in Victoria. From then has gone on to work at several studs with stallions, mares and foals, and yearlings. Has a long-standing relationship with Craig from working on other studs and at sales for him. Previous to this was at IRT working in their quarantine area for two and a half years.

Interest's outside of work: Fishing and watching racing

Role: Accounts

Born: Waratah

History: Developed an interest in horses at a young age, attended ponyclub etc.  Worked in accounts in other areas before taking a job at Amarina.

Interest's outside of work: Looking after daughters and their ponies

Favourite time of year: Spring

Amie Bingham

Role: Horses/Office

Born: Taranaki, NZ

History: Grew up around horses, regular competitor in the eventing circuit. Worked for racing trainer John Wheeler and Fairdale stud while completing a Masters degree in Psychology.  Worked in England at Watership Down Stud to fund OE, then came to Australia.

Interests outside of work: Travelling, racing, art

Born: Timaru, NZ (like Pharlap)

History: Took a job at the Oaks in NZ while at uni, progressed from there. Went to the National Stud in Ireland. Has also worked at Curraghmore, Coolmore, Trelawney, and Tyrell.

Favourite Horse: More Than Fair

Interest outside of work: Racing, boxing, tennis.

Favourite Time of year: foaling

Born: Ukraine

History: Finished Mykolair State Agrarian University, worked in England and Ireland before coming to Australia.  First started in the industry when working for Newhaven Park Stud in NSW.

Born: Maitland

History:  Gillian is a local girl, raised in Muswellbrook.  She completed High School in Inverall before completing the an equine course at the Scone TAFE.  From there Gillian worked at Holbrook in Scone gaining experience in all aspects of stud life.  She arrived at Amarina in 2011 to do our Quarantine night watch, then moved on to days and relief nights.

Favourite Horse: Wild Soiree

Interests outside of work: Reading, Endurance riding, RPG's.

Favourite time of year: Foaling

Most Satisfying part of job: Getting live and healthy foals.

Role: Chief mouse/rat catcher, general supervisor

History: Became involved in the industry when Tony and Pam Parry adopted me. Bellerive, Broadwater, Arrowfield, I've worked at them all.

Favourite horse on Amarina: Shorty the Shetland

Interest's outside of work: Going for drives, chasing sticks and stones.

Favourite time of year: Winter so I can stay outside all day

Most satisfying part of job: Catching big rats and lots of mice

 

 

Employment
